Chappel's Restaurant
~Run by Sina Chappel

Chappell’s Restaurant – "It’s no secret around Fortville that for 24 years Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chappell have been serving local patrons in that home cooked style, the kind that has made them famous.  Ever since 1922 when Mr. Chappell first went into business, the family has been giving their best in service to the people of Fortville.

Specializing in short orders and meals, Chappells also serve delicious ice cream and milk shakes and handle other confectioneries.  Probably the most famous product of the Chappell Restaurant is the ice cream.  Made from 10% butterfat, quality is the theme from start to finish.  Featuring fresh fruit flavors, this ice cream is considered not as a delicacy, but a food.  They also serve Grade A milk.

The Chappells, with their daughter, Wilma, operate the business.  The restaurant has occupied its present location for the past 14 years.  As an additional service to the public, they also rent rooms.  The family resides over the restaurant."  Fortville Tribune 1949
